Past & Present
From a very early age, I had a strong passion for art. It stemmed from a fascination with paint (oil, watercolor), pen, and pencil work during the comic book boom of the early 90's. It was in the early stages of the modern graphic-oriented web (late 90's) that I moved to graphic design and website development. I'm now back in college, seeking my degree in Applied Science for graphic design. I am excited to absorb all the knowledge it will — and already has — given me. I also hope to teach the fundamentals to other eager minds wanting to learn about the industry. I have a passion for intelligent design, ultra-usable development, and hand-crafted fully W3C compliant code. Oh, and I absolutely love Oregon beer.
My Process to Make You Famous
The way to get it all put together. A path where at the end, we're both really excited about the final presentation, is a journey we'll travel together. The process it takes to get from conceptual design to actual presentation is usually a long road, but it ensures that things are done right. Here's how we do it:
The Meeting: The initial meeting outlines what you are wanting to get done, specifically what you're trying to accomplish, your ambitions for your project, how I can help, and gathering information. We'll also go over estimated pricing, sign on the dotted line, and finish our coffee.
Finders Keepers: Research is vital to any project. I'll look at some projects you like, see what your competitors are up to, and do some digging on what is important to highlight and what is not.
Doodles: Sketches and thumbnails are created and presented to give you an idea about how I see the project heading. You give as much feedback as possible and we move forward with any changes we think will better the project.
Clarity: Once we have a general idea of where we want to go with things, I move on to a middle ground of design. The presentation consists of higher quality images (usually done on a computer at this point) and present them in full color format. We then sit down, discuss what changes we want made, and pick a solid foundation for the final piece.
Finish Line: The final design is meticulously put together and presented. You receive high resolution copies of all work, and we finalize the project paperwork.
So, What Now? What's Next?
Now we get to work together. You and I, on your next big thing. When you're ready, I'm ready. I'd love to sit down and have a chat about what your hopes and dreams are for the project you need help with. Let's build it together, and let's make it awesome.
